design objectsFerro-Cement Cast
spring 2007 (concrete design course)
The 1.5" thick reinforced concrete object was designed and constructed for a semester long workshop. Displayed in tension, it is a 5' circular disk with twelve 8" circular voids reinforced with two layers of wire mesh and additional reinforcement applied between voids. The 8" wooden circles subtracted from the disk are broken down into four parts for easy breakdown after cast.

The object mimics the design of a clock located within the exhibition space. A bowling ball is used to display the completed cast in with its smooth surface facing upright.
