Cenotaph for Unknown Poets / 1 / 2 / next
fall 2006 to spring 2007 (undergraduate thesis)

The cenotaph is a program developed from a spatial construct model. The construction utilizes a repetitious 3' x 6' aluminum formwork with pin and wedge connections, resulting in a rhythm of monolithic concrete forms.



Elements are extruded in phases recycling formwork where possible, while a grade beam grid or strip foundation is erected below the frost line to induce uniform sway; caissons are added to foundation based on site needs. The base is defined by a square footprint of porous concrete pavers.
