Verón Church and Commnunity Center / 1 / 2 / next
spring 2006 (student design project)
Site analysis for the squatter's town of Verón, Dominca indicated a need for a church, a dance hall and an information center. To take advantage of cross ventilation in the temperate climate, the structure is completely open-air with the exception of the church's sacristy and bathrooms.

Masonry wall light pockets that run the length of the plan are available for use as needed and are anchored to the coral ground by steel auger piles. The central core separates the open hall from the nave of the church and is intended to add greenery to the still and otherwise barren rock landscape with planters built at the base of a slatted facade.
