Clifton Forge Amtrak Train Station -
spring 2011 (honorable mention)
The modular train station design features a compact shell enclosure hinged on a central truss spine which can provide protection from cold winds in the wintertime, but can also transform into a more open configuration during the warmer months. The steel unit is built in an offsite factory and then delivered onsite where it is finally attached to a site-built concrete pier foundation. Because the parts are prefabricated, construction duration is greatly reduced. If the station is expanded at a later date, additional units can be purchased.

A 30" x 20" board was created for the school-wide competition which took place during one weekend in January.
